An Android phone can detect a Tile tracker, and TFind scans for one free. It
reads the Bluetooth service IDs that Tile broadcasts (feec / feed) on any
Android 8.0+ phone. You need no Tile account, no subscription and not even the
Tile app.
Two different jobs bring people here. You mislaid something with a Tile on it and want to know whether it is still within Bluetooth range. Or you suspect a Tile you do not own is travelling with you.
How TFind finds a Tile
- Open TFind and tap Start Scan — grant Bluetooth and Location so scanning can run.
- TFind lists nearby Tile trackers, alongside any AirTags and SmartTags in range.
- Watch the distance band and walk around. Signal strength climbs as you close in.
- Mark a Tile you own as My Tags so it stops triggering unknown-tracker alerts.
Which Tile models does it detect?
All of the ones that advertise Tile’s format, and TFind never looks at the model
name — because a Bluetooth advertisement does not carry one. It matches the
service IDs feec and feed. A keyring Tile, a card-shaped one and a stick-on
one are read by the same rule.
The flip side is the honest limit. A tracker that is not an AirTag, a Samsung SmartTag or a Tile produces nothing at all — not a partial result. That covers Chipolo, Pebblebee, an iTag or other no-brand keyring tag, and any tag on Google’s Find Hub network.
Why TFind cannot ring your Tile
Tile’s own app can ring a Tile because it speaks Tile’s private protocol after signing in to the account the tag is registered to. That command is not part of the public Bluetooth advertisement, so no third-party scanner can send it.
The same wall exists in the other direction, which is worth knowing before you judge any Android tracker app: TFind can beep a separated AirTag because Apple’s Find My design exposes that, and it cannot beep a SmartTag or a Tile because theirs does not. If ringing your own Tile is the job, Tile’s app is the right tool.
Is a Tile in the list evidence someone is tracking me?
No. A Tile in range usually belongs to somebody nearby who is going about their day. What matters is whether the same tracker keeps reappearing as you move.
TFind flags a tracker as suspicious only after seeing the same one twice, at least 15 minutes and 200 metres apart. That is deliberately slow — it is the test for a tag that travels with you, rather than one you walked past.

Honest limits

- A Tile that is out of Bluetooth range is invisible; there is no Tile network lookup and no last-seen map
- Distance is an estimate from signal strength, not a direction — treat it as warmer and colder
- Detects the Tile, not who owns it — a Bluetooth advertisement carries no owner
