No single app is the best AirTag detector on Android. Pick by which trackers you need to find. All four apps below scan for free on Android. Only TFind also detects Samsung SmartTag, SmartTag+ and Tile. The two independent rivals cover AirTag, carry more reviews, and rate higher on Google Play. Apple’s own app rates lowest of the four.
Most “AirTag detector” apps on Android are built around Apple’s AirTag. If you own a Samsung SmartTag or a Tile, or you just want an app that says what it does on Android, the choice narrows fast. Here’s an honest look at the main options, using Google Play data read on 12 August 2026, and on 15 August 2026 for the Apple row.

Tag Tracker was called Tracker Detect: AirTag Scanner until recently, so you may know it under the old name. Apple’s app is simply called Tracker Detect, which makes the two easy to confuse in Play search.
Both independent rivals are rated higher than TFind. They are older and carry far more reviews — 11.6k and 10.4k against TFind’s 372 — which also puts them above TFind in Play search. The reason to pick TFind is not its score. It is that neither of them detects a Samsung SmartTag, and TFind does.

Why Apple’s own app rates lowest
Search Google Play for “airtag detector” and Apple’s Tracker Detect comes up first. It also holds the lowest score on this page: 2.9, across more than five thousand reviews, on an app last updated in December 2025.
The reason shows up again and again in its reviews. Tracker Detect scans only while you hold it open and press the button. There is no background mode. So the app helps only when you already suspect a tracker and think to go looking for one — which is the opposite of how somebody finds out they are being followed. Its two most-upvoted reviews are both people asking Apple to add background scanning.
TFind does run in the background. That is a real difference, and it is the one comparison on this page TFind wins outright. It is not free, though: the check keeps a permanent notification in your status bar and it uses battery, and it stops when you close it.
One thing Apple’s low score does not prove is that its detection is broken. The reviews describing a missed AirTag a few feet away are describing a limit of Bluetooth itself, and TFind lives under the same one. See how AirTag detection actually works.

No app on Android can do Apple’s ultra-wideband precision finding, read a tag’s owner, or see Chipolo, Pebblebee and Google Find Hub tags — those are limits of Bluetooth detection, not of any one app.
